Review

Synopsis:This clever smash-hit farce has won numerous awards. The play opens with a touring company dress−rehearsing a conventional farce called Nothing On. Never missing a trick, Frayn takes the cliches of the genre and shakes them through a series of kaleidoscopic patterns. Mixing mockery and homage, Frayn presents us, in this farce−within−a−farce, with a marvellous range of characters, such as the cheeky char, the outraged wife, and a squeaky blonde, who stampede in and out through doors as voices rise and trousers fall. Directed by Sue Smith.

The Daily Mail's Jack Tinker said it's “Mr Frayn's brilliant and best work”.

The Times Literary Supplement's Peter Kemp said it's “a farce that makes you think as well as laugh”.

The Times' Ned Chaillet said it's “the funniest play I have ever seen in the West End”.
